Pau d'Arco - Tabebuia
Tabebuia is a genus of trees and shrubs. Included in it is
Tabebuia impetiginosa (TI) which is also known as Pau d'Arco. The main focus of this particular page is TI, rather than the other kinds of
Tabebuia.
Location
TI can be found as far north as the northern area of Mexico. It also reaches all the way down to Argentina, and is commonly found in a number of other locations. In terms of the United States, it is not frequently found, but can sometimes be noted in Florida.
Uses
As mentioned throughout this site, Pau d'Arco has many claimed
medical benefits. Yet, there are many other ways in which
Tabebuia impetiginosa is used. In some cases, it has ornamental uses, due to the vibrant appearance of its flowers. It can also be used as a plant from which bees make honey. A variety of species in the
Tabebuia genus can also be used for timber.

About the tree
TI is deciduous, and in terms of size is big. It can reach nearly, perhaps actually, 100 feet in height. In terms of width, its trunk can be at least 2.5 feet across. The wood is dense in nature. It contains a high level of tannins,
